Photo Exhibition and Drawing Competition programs have been successfully conducted.

With the theme based on the conservation importance of the critically endangered species ‘Yellow-breasted Bunting’, two programs i.e., photo exhibition and drawing competition have been successfully conducted by project researcher Anisha Rana’s team and Pokhara Bird Society at Nepal Tourism Board Gandaki Province yesterday.

Students from secondary level in and around the wetlands of the Lake Cluster of Pokhara Valley participated in the drawing competition program focused on critically endangered bunting’s conservation, threats and awareness.

The program was a part of the The Rufford Foundation Small Grants on the topic “Yellow-breasted Bunting: Population Status, Distribution and Conservation Challenges in Pokhara Lake Cluster, the youngest Ramsar Site of Nepal.”

Total 7 posters were displayed in the exhibition providing information about the habitat, breeding ground, wintering ground, threats, conservation and awareness issues of Yellow-breasted Bunting. Approximately 65 participants observed the exhibition. These posters were thoroughly presented to the participants by the President of Pokhara Bird Society and Bird Expert Mr. Manshanta Ghimire.

Bishal Sharma and Bibis Gurung from Rastriya Secondary School, Bishal Dawadi from Nabaprabhat Secondary School, Anjila Subedi from Sprial Galaxy School secured first, second, third and fourth ranks respectively in the drawing competition.

The program was chaired by Mr. Manshanta Ghimire, the President of Pokhara Bird Society. Similarly, the Chief Guest of the program was Mr. Binod Prasad Heyojoo, the Campus Chief of the Institute of Forestry, Pokhara Campus and the special guest was Mr. Kedar Baral, the Division Forest Officer of Division Forest Office, Kaski. Also, Mr Hemanta Dhakal, secretary of PBS, Mrs. Shanti Rana, Program Officer from Radio Nepal and others media house represented personality joined the program.  

The program was hosted by Ms. Sujata Shrestha, the former Coordinator of Bird Conservation Nepal Pokhara Branch. Mr. Dinesh Bhusal welcomed everyone with a welcome speech. Likewise, Ms. Rakshya Thakuri (team member of the project) and Ms. Sraddha Gurung facilitated the entire program. And, the students of the Institute of Forestry, Pokhara Campus volunteered for the program.
